Summer

Hiking: There are two types of hikers. First, those who believe you need to grow a full beard, cycle to the Himalayas on a unicycle with a 100-pound pack, and sleep under the stars in freezing temperatures to call yourself a hiker. The second type listens a bit too much to the first and thinks it's best to stay home.

But things have changed. A new breed of hiker has emerged. We call her The Modern Hiker.

The Modern Hiker wants to quickly immerse herself in nature. Sometimes she desires a long trek on steep trails, and other times she just wants a leisurely stroll, depending on her mood. Above all, she wants to avoid the hassle of cooking over an open fire or waking up in a damp tent. She prefers day trips, focusing on hiking rather than lugging gear and setting up tents.

Upon returning home, The Modern Hiker enjoys a refreshing shower, perhaps a swim and sauna, followed by a delightful meal of local produce paired with a nice wine. The next morning, well-rested, she looks out at the mountains and contemplates which trail suits her best that day.
