Son Jaumell - Son Jaumell, Cala Ratjada
Capdepera, Spain
Hotel amenities
This wheelchair-accessible bungalow-style villa for 4 people is located in the shade of tall pine trees, which give the property a special touch and do not block the sun's path. Formerly used as a guest house for the main house Son Jaumell Gran, it remains fundamentally true to its role and now accommodates self-catering holidaymakers with separate access and privacy. A covered terrace with a view that sometimes even peeks through to the sea, the pool, a well-tended lawn, landscaped plants and small palm trees decoratively frame the somewhat older house, which shows no signs of ageing. Added to this is the top location, which will be the envy of many: Just 5 minutes by car to Cala Ratjada to enjoy excellent fish, and only a 15-minute walk to Capdepera and the natural beach of Cala Agulla. You could almost say that you book Villa Son Jaumell together with the sea and the bay. There is a slight farm feeling here: once a year, cows graze on a secluded part of the property. In addition, some of the employees here, such as the lifeguard and the gardener, have dogs that they occasionally bring with them.
This is a Fincallorca holiday home.
The living spaces of the current owners have been lovingly spruced up and dressed: Furniture with rustic charm, complete kitchen equipment and high-quality, back-friendly mattresses have given the house a new look that both young and old guests will find themselves in: timeless, this is how you always want to feel, especially on holiday. The open, cosy living and dining area, which exudes a touch of the African lodge, also includes a small kitchen with a counter and seating area, which cleverly takes up its own space. It is simply divine when you are served a view over the landscape at breakfast in the morning; the large glass front can also be pushed aside if required. A huge TV in the fireplace corner makes you want to put your feet up and enjoy a film or sports evening by the crackling fire. And two almost identically furnished bedrooms, each with a large double bed and its own shower tray, make it easy to choose a place - every couple, every toothbrush has its own realm here. Conclusion: Not too big and not too small, just right as a holiday home for four people. As a little bonus for the cosy character, the house has a pellet stove that heats the house and ensures that it is still perfectly inviting even in the colder months.
Island history, beaches, pirate caves and the high life: you don't have to travel far to enjoy the best of everything. Occasionally, traffic noise can be heard on the villa property. However, this is more than worth it as the transport links are so good and other resorts are within easy reach. For example, the Castell de Capdepera from the time of the wars of conquest is enthroned on a hill; the citadel serves as a museum for traditional basket weaving with palm fronds. Head to the colourful weekly market in Artà on Tuesdays and stroll through galleries, boutiques and artists' cafés. Enjoy a sundowner in Stingray Bay, in the popular Cala Ratjada, where you will find more historic fishermen's huts and many great restaurants around the beautiful harbour promenade. Or enjoy a full day at the beach: the town beach Playa Son Moll, the small cove Cala Gat and the nature-protected Playa Cala Agulla are just a small selection of options between idyllic and party zone. Have we promised you too much with this top location?
The small but beautiful Villa Son Jaumell boasts a top location near Capdepera (quiet) and Cala Ratjada (lively), one of Mallorca's most popular coastal regions. From the airport, simply take the motorway towards Manacor and Artà until the end of the motorway and you're almost there. In the Plaza del Oriente of Capdepera you will find small restaurants, bars and the colourful market on a Wednesday. Your local beach is the sheltered bay of Cala Agulla with its sandy beach and turquoise-coloured water and Capdepera Golf is one of the most beautiful places on the island with its fantastic views.
